Bellagio is situated on the point
of the promontory that separates the two branches of Lake Como. The glacier
that formed the lake by flowing down from the Alps, ran into the promontory
and was forced to split into two. Thus the characteristic upside-down “Y”
shape of the lake came into being.
Bellagio is in the centre.

estrema del promontorio che separa i due rami del lago di Como. Il ghiacciaio
che ha formato il lago scendendo dalle Alpi, ha incontrato il promontorio
ed è stato costretto a dividersi in due. E' nata così la caratteristica
forma a Y rovesciata del Lago di Como. Bellagio è nel centro.
